Six phases, in detail.

Every phase has a written deliverable, a clear scope, and a clear price model. The engineer who walks the plant in Phase 02 is the engineer who commissions in Phase 05.

PHASE 01 · 30–45 min call · remote · free

Brief

You tell us what's broken, what's missing, or what you're considering. We listen, ask the awkward questions, and tell you within one call whether we're the right firm. If we're not, we'll say so — and where we can, we'll point you somewhere useful.

Phase 01 is free because asking shouldn't cost anything. The first risk you take is in Phase 02, and you take it eyes open.

You provide

Context, constraints, any drawings or alarm logs.

We do

Listen, ask the awkward questions, tell you honestly if this falls inside our depth.

You receive

Written summary · two-paragraph opinion · scope outline for Phase 02 — or a candid "this isn't us" with a name or two of firms who'd be better.

PHASE 02 · 1–2 days on site · day-rate

Site walkdown

An engineer on the floor with PPE, a notebook and a camera. Not a pre-sales call dressed up — actual technical reconnaissance. We walk every panel and instrument relevant to the scope, photograph nameplates, mark up P&IDs, read alarm logs, interview the people who actually run the equipment.

We sketch the proposed scope before leaving site, so nothing in the report is a surprise. The walkdown report is yours, even if you don't proceed.

You provide

Site induction · access to lines & panels · 30 min with maintenance lead · 30 min with an operator · existing drawings.

You receive

Walkdown report (8–20 pages) · scoped proposal · assumptions in writing · fixed-price quote where scope allows, day-rate where unknowns are too live.

Out by

Five working days after the walkdown ends.

PHASE 03 · 2–6 weeks · off site · fixed price

Design

Everything that needs to be agreed before code or copper. Functional design specification, control narratives, I/O lists, electrical schematics. Reviewed with your team in person, in plain English, before anything irreversible starts.

Two formal reviews — typically a 60% design review and a 100% issue-for-construction review. Comments tracked in writing, addressed in writing, signed off in writing.

We produce

FDS · control narratives · I/O list · alarm & trip schedule · panel schematics (DRAFT then ISSUE) · BOM with lead times · network architecture diagram.

You provide

A reviewer with authority to sign off · decisions within one week of each review · tag conventions & IT/OT network requirements.

Change control

Scope changes are logged, priced and either absorbed or quoted — never invoiced as a surprise.

PHASE 04 · 4–10 weeks · off site · fixed price

Build & FAT

Panels built (or supervised in build). PLC and SCADA developed against the agreed FDS. Software simulated and dry-tested before shipping. You're invited to a witnessed Factory Acceptance Test — we don't ship anything you haven't seen working.

Small panels we build on our bench. Larger or volume work we supervise at a vetted panel shop — same drawings, same engineer signing it off.

Software

Written against the FDS in your preferred IEC 61131-3 dialect. Reviewed by a second engineer before FAT.

FAT

Witnessed on our premises (or yours, by arrangement). Script written from the FDS, signed page-by-page. Failures logged, re-tested, signed off.

Won't ship without

Signed FAT script · matched as-tested drawings · loaded software backup · labelled spares list.

PHASE 05 · 1–4 weeks on site · day-rate, capped

Commissioning

Same engineer, on site, until the line runs. Installation check, power-on and I/O verification, loop checks, point-to-point with field, sequence cold-test, wet commissioning, performance demonstration against the agreed criteria. We don't leave until operators are using it without us in the room.

Operator briefing — small group, on the line, with the actual screens. We answer the awkward questions and add them to the operator pack as an FAQ.

You provide

Site access including out-of-hours · point of contact for shift changeover · clear definition of "running correctly."

Day-rate cap

Commissioning runs on day-rate with a cap agreed in the proposal. Overruns that are on us are not invoiced.

You receive

Performance sign-off · operator-pack with FAQ · loaded final software backup.

PHASE 06 · documentation · on-call · defects period in writing

Handover & aftercare

Documents handed over, defects period in writing, same engineer on the phone. We don't disappear after the invoice. The system you bought stays the system we built.

A defects period from sign-off, agreed in the proposal and honoured in writing. Defects in our work — design, code or supplied hardware — are corrected at our cost. The line between a defect and a change request is drawn in writing.

Document pack

As-built drawings (PDF + native) · final FDS & narratives · final I/O list, alarm schedule, tag database · commissioning records · operator FAQ · backup of all software with restore procedure.

On-call

Same phone number, same engineer. Inside business hours: response in 2 working hours. Out of hours, by prior arrangement on a retainer.

After the defects period

Optional support agreement — hourly, monthly, or none at all. The handover pack is built so your plant team can own it.
